The girls C league concluded the season tonight at St. Mary’s School. The number one CHHS Vikings (Team 2) squared off against the number two Medicine Hat Christian Warriors. The Warriors took the championship final 32-20. Both teams finished the season at 5-1, with both teams splitting the season series with one another.
After having trouble finding the hoop in the third quarter, the Vikings had a strong start to the fourth quarter and went ahead 21-20 after being down 17-11 after three. It was close for the last quarter with both teams trading leads. However, with about a minute to go, the Warriors went on a scoring rampage and finished up with a 32-20 win. Jerusalem Cooper of the Warriors lead her team with 8 points, while the Vikings Marley Howes scored 10 for CHHS.
In the bronze medal game the third and fourth seeded teams squared off with the #3 Colts winning in overtime 40-36 over the #4 Vikings (Team 1). The lead changed hands several times and the Colts had to come from behind late in the game to force overtime.
Pheonix Asprey of St. Mary’s lead the Colts with 14 points, including a three pointer, and went 3 for 9 from the free throw line. The Vikings Charity Hearn lead the way for the Vikings with 16 points.
