The Irvine Tigers finished off a strong regular season winning the girls B league championship played at Notre Dame.
It’s been a long time since the Colts have won the boys A league final. They were able to do so in convincing fashion with an 82 – 49 win over Alexandra.
The Colts Bubu Benjamin led all scorers with 39, including 5 from beyond the 3 point line. Duncan Markie also had a strong showing offensively with 16 points.
The Jayhawks’ Kai Noon scored 19 for the visiting squad.
The number 2 seed St. Mary’s Colts came back from a 9 point deficit at halftime to defeat the number 1 seed CHHS Vikings 53-42. The Vikings were the league’s only undefeated team and had previously defeated the Colts in league play and in tournament play.
The Parkside Pythons won a close game against Crescent Height Vikings, 46-40. Jayda Currence led the way for the Pythons with 16 points, while teammate Capri Booker had 14 points. For the Vikings, Sara Feko had a strong game with 17 points and went 5 for 14 from the free throw line. The Vikings Haven Dillman had 11 points.
The game was tied at 13 at the first quarter and the Pythons went up by 8 at half. Parkside went on a 15-10 run in the third quarter, and despite only scoring a bucket in the fourth quarter held on for the six point win.
The girls A playoffs took place at St. Mary’s School with all 9 league teams in action.
The number one ranked Notre Dame Dawgs took on number two ranked Irvine Tigers and took the gold medal and league championship game 2 games to 1 (25-19; 20-25; 15-9)
The bronze medal game the Alexandra Jayhawks took the Seven Persons Wolfpack in 3 as well (25-12; 16-25; 15-10).

The Girls Volleyball C League Playoffs were held at Crescent Heights High School. All five league teams vied for C League supremacy. The host school, who finished the year at the top of the results table, took the championship final defeating Irvine in two close sets 25-23 and 25-21.
The bronze medal match saw Alexandra defeat Parkside 25-23 and 25-14.
Seven Persons was the only member school to bring home a cross country banner from the snow covered South Zone Jr High Athletic Association Cross Country Meet in Cardston.
Audyn Mehauer was the only athlete to medal at zones as she took a bronze in the Girls Midget race.

The second round of the competitive golf schedule was played at Connaught Golf Club. The Notre Dame girls team continues to dominate.
Camila Tirado and Libby Bourassa tied with a 9 hole round of 51, while teammate Jaci Bertram and Irvine’s Kierra Reesor tied for second with a round of 54. All three Notre Dame competitors are now tied for first overall after two rounds of play.
On the boys side, Owen Burzminski of Notre Dame won the 9 hole round shooting 38. Cale Ferguson of CHHS shot a 40, while teammate Zach Miller shot a 42. Ferguson, however retains the overall lead, with Burzminski trailing by 1.5 points, and Miller in third place.
The overall standings see Notre Dame dominating with 81.25 points, while Crescent Heights is in second place at 37.5 points, and Alexandra in third place with 17.5 points.
The three course tournament winds up next week at Desert Blume.
Terry Carson, long time teacher at Alexandra and president of MHJHAA, has resigned as president as he is also retiring from teaching. Greg Elgis of Parkside has been acclaimed as the new MHJHAA president.
Jason Duchscherer, the secretary-treasurer has also resigned. Jason has accepted a position at Eagle Butte High School in Dunmore and will no longer be involved in junior high athletics. Curt Moll of St. Mary’s has been acclaimed as the new secretary-treasurer.
The association thanks both Terry and Jason for their service and wishes them both well in the next chapter of their lives.

Notre Dame swept the first tournament of the season taking the top three positions at Cottonwood Coulee. Jaci Bertram took top spot shooting a nine hole round of 44, while her teammates Libby Bourassa and Camila Tirado both shot 46 to finish tied at second.
On the boys side, Cale Ferguson of CHHS shot a nine hole round of 37, while Elias Eisenbarth shot a 38, and Tyren Weinberger of Dr Wilson and Owen Burzminski of Notre Dame tied for third shooting a round of 40.
The overall rankings have Notre Dame with a comfortable 39 points, while Crescent Heights sits at 16.5, and Dr Wilson at 14.5.
